IP Scanner Ultra App Reviews

This is an essential tool for network managers!

As an IT Consultant, I manage a variety of disparate networks- Windows (XP, Vista, Win7 & Win8, Windows server), Macs, BYODs, etc. from my home office, at Small-to-Medium businesses, schools, Scanner Pro is by far the simplest and quickest way Ive found ever so far to manage the devices on these networks. It is helpful in showing up ‘rogue’ devices on Customers networks. Ive had very few issues with this software, although I do agree it could use some more advanced tools for networking purposes.

Works well for some things.

It works well for most things but you cannot remove the custom name or delete duplicate MAC addresses with different IP addresses for instance if you change the IP of something it still shows in IP Scanner but you cannot get rid of it. Even if your router does not show the reservation anymore. This needs to be fixed. I paid good money for this app twice.

Systems Enginer

Excellent utility. Efecient, accurate, and nice itnegration with cut through applications like VNC/Web, and in addition portscan, ping and wakeonlan.

use it daily

i use this every day works great.

NWSunbird

The app works great, allowing me to monitor over 20 devices, our entire network.

Superb!

I’ve been using IP Scanner Pro for 3 years or more, in one word Superb for software and support.

It is a good tool

Useful for auditing a new or existing environment to verify what you expect to be on the network. It does a decent job of determining the type of device by looking up the manufacturer via the MAC address. The reporting options are decent. I like that it can automatically dump the scan into a csv file at regular intervals. Some things I would like to see changed 1) App scanns blocks of 254 addresses even if the network subnet you are on is larger. It should pick up on the subnet of the network you are attached to and scan the whole thing. Adding, and later removing, customer network segments in order to scan a large subnet is cumbersome. 2) Would love to be able to automatically run a scan of a few pre-selected ports of each host during the ping sweep. 3) Speaking LLDP or CDP would be great (ex highlighting a switch and being able to see a list of remote neighbors). It is a good tool, albeit basic, with potential to be a killer app.

Great little utility …but causing kernel panics now!

This is a useful utility. I use it when I need to see devices on the subnet. It has a search function which is usefil and you can sort by columns and other useful things. I always update to the latest version because this app has always been crashy. If I have it open all day at work, I expect it to crash once or twice. But recently it has been crashing and causing kernel panics which is annoying. Just happened twice. Looking forward to an update.

New Bug

iMac 2010, 16G RAM, 256G SSD, 1T HD running Yosemite. Recently started rebooting itself. When this app, which has been in use for maybe a year, was deleted, reboots quit. Your decision.

Worthless

Can’t scan a network greater than /24.

Best Desktop Network Scanner Solution

Having used another network scanner solution that was archaicalliy terminal based, IP Scanner Pro with it’s easy to use UI is a joy to use and the app is regularly updated.

Valuable Tool for Managing your IP Space

Never imagined I’d have to start managing my IP space with a tool like IP Scanner Pro but, with the proliferation of Home Automation and IoT devices, it’s become essential. IP Scanner Pro provides an informative list of devices it finds on my subnet, enabling me to make intelligent decisions about utilization and my network’s architecture. That’s to the data IP Scanner Pro provides, I can see I’m on the verge of needing a new subnet to manage the devices and traffic. Without this tool, I’d be flying blind. IP Scanner Pro provides a well-designed, easy to understand ergo and have been completely stable since I began using it several months ago.

A much improved product

I bought this years ago when my IoT list started to grow. There were some bumps along the way, but I really like this version. Keep up the very good work, and keep up the improvements. I’d like to suggest that you have (as an option) a way to telnet from the IP list.

It works, and it works very well!

If you need a product that will do the job well, or the tool package to ferret out a subtle issue; then you have found what you need. Save yourself some frustration and go with this product.

Does what it says

Indisprnsable if you have a home network with bunches of devices. Especially if you are trying to set up static IP adresses for certain devices.

Few bugs; tech support inexistent!!

I would give this five stars but tech support is inexistant. Writing to the dev team is like writing to nobody, I never got an answer whatsoever. In terms of the app itself, bare in mind that device names do not sync via iCloud, so if you plan in installing it in more than one machine, forget about this feature. App sometimes is buggy in the sense that it does not recognize all devices in the first scan - you will need to scan the network two to three times to make sure you have a full picture of all connected devices. Also, custom names do not appear at once, again you will need to scan the network two to three times before the app can display devices with their custom names. This app may be handy for some basic network troubleshooting but it’s still far from being a top notch network tool.

New version crashes non-stop on 10.11.1

This new version is completely broken. Won’t stay open for more than 5 seconds. Really awful.

This version consistently crashes

This version consistently crashes in a few seconds after starting up. Seems to be a very consistent problem, and hopefully a resolution is in the works. I have the latest version of everything. This is no better than the previous version.

Only Scanner you need

Excellent tool. Fast and reliable.

Application Crashes

After I upgraded to the latest version of IP Scanner Pro, it randomy crashes after it begins to scan my network. The only way to have the application work after it does this is to restart my computer. Did not have this issue with the previous version on my Mid-2014 15” MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.10.5
